NAME :KaneOne
-What is your story how did you go from average rider to pro stunter?I bought a bike when I was 17, I figured it would be a cheaper mode of trasnportation. I had no idea it would take over my life, as it did. within 3 months I was doing switchback insanes, and 10 mile standups. I was never content riding it like a normal person. I quit my full time dayjob as a Body Piercer in las Vegas NV about 1 1/2 years ago to pursue my riding full time.
-Was there anything specifically that inspired you to start doing stunts/freestyle?I started riding in late 1999, soon after the Las Vegas Extreme 1 video was released. but had been hanging out around the wheelie spot since i was 16 in 1998. I remember when the video was first released and the impact it made on the las vegas motorcycling scene. The entire motorcycling scene in fact. If you grew up in las vegas riding a bike at that time all you wanted to ever be was a las vegas extreme. my self and my friend Bendoe would run around holding cameras and tagging alongside pauly and Dmann hoping to be one some day...
-How did you get hooked up with Las Vegas Extremes?couldnt avoid them... Pauly, Dmann, even old school Ofer would just be there.. every weekend. youd run into them at bike nights, the wheelie spot.. even going to cyclegear for tires and chances were youd bump into one.. They were just friends that happened to be really good at rocking freeway wheelies and riding backwards..
-Is there any special equipment or gear that you guys use?Plenty, the modern "stunt" bike has multiple reinforcements, and customizing done to them in order to make them more suitable to what we are trying to accomplish on them. in years past the bike were much more stock. my bikes in particular have been completely redone by RACING 905. Fairring stays, wheelie bars, custom subframes, braces, dual rear caliper hand brake systems, crash cages... Id added aftermarket clipons to all my bikes, and tilted the angle of the clipons out more so as to have more control. GPR Stabilizers are also suited on all bikes. Ive replaced all stock body work with lighter and more suitable Cheetah Race Bodies. removed and re-routed the brake lines, resevoirs so as to allow more clearance for my legs during combo wheelies. in fact ive even redesigned the shape of the upper fairring so as to accomidate me a little better for said combos.
-So how do you come up with new stunts? Is it kind of a competition between you and the other guys as to who comes up with the craziest stuff?Ive always found that the most innovation for myself is usually due to friendly competition and practice with different riders. Ive ridden with people from all over the country and have always picked up certain styles, skills, and technique from different riders. tricks that are popular in one city are unheard of in another. me personally when i try to come up with something new, its usually becuase of friends joking around which gets the mental ball rolling... what if?
-I would assume that with the amount of risk involved with what you do, that safety is a big concern.Saftey is definatley a large concern. Wrecking sucks. during exhibitions, competitions, and practice I always wear the appropriate gear. My NJK Leather jacket contains very protective padding and has helped me countless times. I protect my head with nothing but the best. Arai Helmets are known in the industry as just that, and are the only things I put on my head. if in the event i do fall off the bike at high speeds the last thing i want is gear that i cheaped out on. its worth the extra $$ for the protection.
-What's the largest event that you've performed at so far?My first stunt show ever was AMA World Superbike Laguna Seca 2002. over 100,000 people. the 2003 season brought me in front of the entire NHRA Powerade series and over 40-50,000 people per event, but the most intimidating yet was January 2005. I competed at the Mountain Dew Action Sports Tour (former Gravity Games) XSBA event in houston Texas. It was held indoors on polished concrete in a very small area. over 46,000 people were present and watching. very daunting. very fun.
-If you hit the lottery, what would you do? Buy a mansion, install a graveyard in the front yard, install a wheelie road in the backyard, and buy like 30 GSXRs
