What prompt you to begin riding?
I was one of those guys who was "not allowed to have motorcycles" growing up. When I moved out, and got a decent job, I bought my first bike. My riding style and interests have changed over the years, and about a year and a half ago, I formed a stunt team, The Psychogang, with some of my closest friends. We love stunting, and are having the time of our lives entertaining crowds with our love for motorcycle.
How long have you been riding, and what was your first bike? Present bike(s).
I have been riding for just over 6 years. I never had even rode a dirtbike before I bought my first street bike. I bought a beautiful brand new Honda Magna. I quickly learned the Magna was not my style and have been riding sportbikes ever since. I have owned too many bikes to list them all, but each one was cool and had it's own flavor. My current bikes are my Crunchy Piece, a 1994 Kawasaki Ninja ZX7, and my mint 2001 Yamaha R1.
What's your favorite stunt?
Wow...I guess my favorite stunt to watch is any kind of acrobatic combo's. My man Thew from 1096 is the master of these, but my personal favorite stunt to perform is any kind of sick burnout combo. I got the fast and slow stuff, and the crowds love them all!!!
What modifications do you like best on sportsbikes?
I think the best mods are the ones that keep you riding. Steering stabilizers from Toby to help keep that wheel going straight, frame sliders and cages from Freestyle Ingenuity, designed to allow you to pick the bike up and try that new trick again and again, great brakes from EBC for stoppies, and good tires for keeping the rubber on the road.
I guess "street use" would have to be defined better, but I will give you two examples. For Street Freestyle, I would spend as little as possible, but the items I have on my bike under the modifications question make a great start. You do not want to waste money on making it "pretty" because YOU WILL crash. For Street Show, or just casual riding, well the sky is the limit. It is all about the look! Make it look beautiful with a custom paint or vinyl job. Make it sound good with a aftermarket exhaust. I guess that should do it. No need to spend money on "go-fast" gear...speed limit is still the same. HAHAHA!
In your opinion, what do you consider to be the worst mistake a rider can make in an emergency situation?
We are all guilty of it at one time or another. We all panic, and make silly mistakes. Remember, you are quick and agile, and can maneuver your way out of alot of bad situations. Be alert, and always be ready for anything.
What hobbies did you have as a child? Do you think you hobbies made a difference in where you are today?
I road BMX bikes for fun and then moved into mountain bikes. I do not think it had alot of impact are where I am now. I never moved into dirtbikes because there was no where to ride them where I grew up. I was never a very crazy kid. I seem to have grown into it in my old age. HAHA!
Do you follow professional racing? If so, who is your favorite rider?
I watch Speedvision all the time. I have alot of favorites. Rossi, Baylis, Hayden, heck I could go on forever. They are all crazy mo-fo's and I wish I was on them!
What do you think about women racers?
I think they are great! I have a beautiful wife and two beautiful children. My wife rides and is very good. She is no racer, but if she wanted to race, I would support and encourage her to.
Anything else you want to say to our readers?
I just want to say thank you to all the men and women who make this sport what it is today. I would like to thank my team for being such a great crew to ride with. I am so glad I have been able to be a part of it! I believe we have only seen the beginning of this revolution! Everyone ride hard, but use your heads! Life is a beautiful thing!
What do you have to say to all the new stunners out there currently coming into the scene?
Ride within your limits. It will take time to become a well respected rider on any level. You will be FAR MORE respected for knowing when to say when on your way up. Being a "hero" might get you some attention, but it will be short lived. Learn the game, work hard to be the best you can be, and when you are ready, you will know it. The guys that have been in the game will tell you it is not easy. This sport is getting more and more intense everyday, and new guys will have alot of work to do to get their riding up to par. Take it slow. It will come if you dedicate yourself.
